The Karlovy Vary Film Festival, Central Europe’s Biggest Cinema Party, Returns in Style
In a region of the world — central and eastern Europe — that hasn’t had much
to celebrate recently, the news that the Karlovy Vary International Film
Festival is returning in full force this year (the 56th KVIFF runs July 1-9) is truly a reason to party.
“We had a physical event last year but it was still a bit under the cloud of
COVID,” says KVIFF artistic director Karel Och.
This time around, everyone is really in the mood,
you can feel the carnival atmosphere that makes Karlovy Vary so special.
It’s going to be as close to [the last pre-pandemic festival] 2019 as possible.”
