Texas State knocks off Stanford in NCAA regional
Texas State knocked off No. 2 overall seed Stanford 5-2 on Saturday at the
Sunken Diamond in Stanford, Calif., earning a spot in the NCAA regional final.
The Bobcats have won two games to open an NCAA regional for the first time
in program history, earning a matchup against either the host Cardinal or third-seeded UC Santa Barbara at 9 p.m. Sunday.
Texas Tech transfer Levi Wells threw seven innings for the Bobcats, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
Tristan Stivors nailed down his NCAA-leading 18th save, throwing two
scoreless innings while yielding just two walks and a hit with five strikeouts.
Jose Gonzalez put the Bobcats on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a towering home run over the right-field wall.
