Selena Gomez Makes ‘SNL’ Hosting Debut Alongside Musical Guest Post Malone

Selena Gomez is set to make her ‘SNL’ hosting debut! Post Malone joins as musical guest, also marking his 1st time on the series.

Live from New York, it’s Saturday night! Season 47 of Saturday Night Live is well underway, and show runner Lorne Michaels has yet to disappoint with his choice of show hosts and musical guests. This week, actress and singer Selena Gomez, 29, makes her hosting debut at Studio 8H alongside first time musical guest Post Malone, 26, on Saturday, May 14.

Owen Wilson, 52, opened the season musical guest Kacey Musgraves, 33, on Oct. 2. The Wedding Crashers star also made his hosting debut in season 47, chalking up the long wait to nerves. “I get really nervous with public speaking. I’ve never done any of those commencement addresses or Saturday Night Live just because I get too nervous,” he explained on a hike to friend Kevin Nealon in a YouTube video. Owen slayed it, and even had some help from his brothers Andrew, 57, and Luke, 50, during his opening monologue.

Selena Gomez Hosting ‘SNL’ For The 1st Time

Saturday Night Live welcomes Selena Gomez for the show for the first time, hot off the success of Only Murders in the Building. Selena is best known to a millennial audience from the Disney Channel show Wizard’s of Waverly Place in the 2010s, where she played Alex Russo — a wizard teenager competing for magic powers.

Beyond her work in the Disney Channel world, Gomez is also known for her smash pop hits such as “Come & Get It,” and “Lose You to Love Me.” Other endeavors include her HBO Max show Selena + Chef, where she collaborates with celebrity chefs, and her makeup line Rare Beauty, which was launched in September of 2020.

Two days before her debut, Selena made a teaser with cast members Aidy Bryant and Bowen Yang along with musical guest Post Malone. When asked whether or not she was nervous, the three teased her about putting ants down her pants both metaphorically and literally.

The ‘SNL’ Musical Guest Tonight Is Post Malone

Post Malone is making his 1st appearance on SNL as musical guest. The hip hop artist is best known for his hit singles “Better Now” and “Too Young.” In the teaser with Selena, Mister Malone told the audience “I’m not really a pop star” in a clever joke.

What Time Is ‘SNL’ On?

Saturday Night Live airs at 11:35 p.m. PST/EST and 9:30 p.m. MT on local NBC affiliates. The series can also be streamed live on the Peacock app.
