Evil Dead Rise: Cast, Plot, Trailer, Release Date and Everything You Need to Know

‘Evil Dead Rise’ is an upcoming American supernatural horror fantasy film.

It is directed and written by Lee Cronin.  The film serves as the fifth installment in the Evil Dead franchise.

Forty years after the release of “Evil Dead,” the supernatural horror trilogy, created by Sam Raimi is back to its original home at New Line.

The original 1981 (The Evil Dead) pic’s filmmaking team is back for Evil Dead Rise: Sam Raimi, who created and directed Evil Dead, will serve as executive producer here; Robert Tapert, who served as executive producer and producer on the first, will produce; and Bruce Campbell, who starred as Ashley J. Williams and executive produced the original will executive producer on the second go-round. He will not star in the next chapter here.

‘Evil Dead Rise’ Plot

Evil Dead Rise takes the undead action away from the woods and into the city. The twisted tale centers on two estranged sisters, portrayed by Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short when flesh-possessing demons thrust them into a battle for survival.

Campbell previously confirmed that the upcoming film wouldn’t have any ties to the previous films. Unlike the previous films, set in a cabin in the woods, this one will be set in the city and the protagonist will not be Ashley Williams but a woman.

‘Evil Dead Rise’ Release Date

Evil Dead Rise began filming in New Zealand on June 6, 2021. Dave Garbett serving as cinematographer, he previously served as a cinematographer on several episodes of Ash vs Evil Dead. Post-production work will be completed in Ireland.

Evil Dead Rise is scheduled to be released by HBO Max (a streaming service operated by Warner Bros. and it’s various divisions, including New Line) in the United States in 2022.

On May 26th, 2021, it was announced the film will be distributed by HBO Max domestically, Canal Plus in the UK and Metropolitan in France.

New Line is responsible for horror hits such as the Evil Dead films and the Conjuring franchise, and has James Wan’s original horror feature Malignant due out Sept. 10.

There’s no trailer for this film. Sorry for this. With a 2022 release date we’re hoping for trailer till a late 2021 or in 2022.

Raimi said in a statement, “I’m thrilled to bring Evil Dead back to its original home at New Line 40 years after the release of the first film. The company’s history as pioneers of horror speaks for itself. I’m equally excited to be working with Lee Cronin, whose gifts as a storyteller make him the ideal filmmaker to continue the enduring legacy of the franchise.”

Campbell added , “At its core, Evil Dead is about ordinary people overcoming extraordinarily terrifying situations, I can’t wait for Alyssa and Lily to fill the blood-soaked shoes of those who have come before them and carry on that tradition.”

Cronin said, “The ‘Evil Dead’ movies filled my brain with terror and awe when I first saw them at 9 years old. I am excited and humbled to be resurrecting the most iconic of evil forces for both the fans and a whole new generation.”

The original 1981 film was made on a shoestring budget and grossed an impressive $2.61 million upon its original release. It spawned two sequels and a 2013 soft reboot, as well as Ash vs. Evil Dead, the TV show starring Campbell that ran on Starz for three seasons from 2015-18.

The new movie, Evil Dead Rise, is coming out in 2022, but the release date is not announced yet. We’ll update this when there’s more ‘Evil Dead Rise’ news. So, stay tuned here for more updates.
